WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Wake Forest men's tennis team was defeated 6-1 Wednesday evening by No. 16 Duke at Leighton Stadium. The 19th-ranked Demon Deacons split the first two doubles matches, but then lost a heartbreaker at No. 3 doubles, giving the Blue Devils the team point going into singles play. Duke won five of six singles matches, sealing the victory for the Blue Devils and ending Wake Forest's 13-game winning streak and handing the Demon Deacons their first conference loss.

Derrick Spice led Wake Forest with wins in singles and doubles. The freshman from Olmsted, OH, won his ninth straight match at the No. 3 singles position, taking out 103rd-ranked Jason Zimmerman 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Spice and doubles partner Mike Murray handed Duke's Joel Spicher and Yorke Allen an 8-2 setback in the No. 2 match.

Wake Forest falls to 13-2 overall and 3-1 in the ACC with the loss, while Duke improves to 8-8 and 4-0 with the win. The Demon Deacons will return to action on Saturday, March 30 at No. 50 Florida State, starting at 1:00 p.m.
