SAN DIEGO, CA - The 29th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team earned its 10th straight win Saturday afternoon after handing host No. 61 San Diego a 6-1 loss. The Demon Deacons captured the doubles point and then took five of six singles matches to finish off the Toreros.

Wake Forest doubles team of Mike Murray (Jr., St. Petersburg, FL) and Derrick Spice (Fr., N. Olmsted, OH) won the No. 2 doubles match 8-2 over San Diego's Stephen Taylor and Ted Burghardt, while the Demon Deacon duo of David Bere (Jr., Midland, MI) and Justin Kaufmann (Sr., Mission Hills, KS) won the No. 3 doubles match 8-2 over Rob Blair and Martin Linusson.

Trent Brendon, a junior for Wake Forest, won the No. 5 singles match in straight sets, beating Burghardt 6-3, 6-4. Murray and David Loewenthal (So., Franklin Lakes, NJ) both came back from behind to win their singles matches. Loewenthal got past USD's Juan Cerda 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match and Murray defeated Taylor 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles match. Spice took care of San Diego's Jason Pongsrikul 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match and Kaufmann shut down Linusson 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match.

Wake Forest improves its record to 10-1 with the win and San Diego falls to 5-8 with the loss. The Demon Deacons return to action next weekend when they resume conference play by playing at Virginia on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and at Maryland on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
