SAN DIEGO, CA - The Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated Purdue 5-2 Thursday afternoon at the University of San Diego. The 50th-ranked Boilermakers won two out of three doubles matches to capture the team point and take a 1-0 lead, but the 29th-ranked Demon Deacons took five of six singles matches to storm back and win the match 5-2.

David Bere and Justin Kaufmann won the number three doubles match 8-4 for Wake Forest and then both won their singles matches. Bere stopped Derrick Miller 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the number two match and Kaufmann took out Troy Havens 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

Wake Forest improves to 9-1 with the victory. The Demon Deacons will return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they play at #61 San Diego at 3:00 p.m. (EST).
