Men's Tennis Falls At Arizona State, 4-3

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team lost 4-3 to No. 47 Arizona State Wednesday afternoon at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center. The 31st-ranked Demon Deacons won two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, but the Sun Devils stormed back to capture four of six singles matches and send Wake Forest home with a 4-3 loss. Trent Brendon and Brett Ross led the Deacs with wins at singles and doubles.

Brendon and Mike Murray joined forces to earn an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles over Arizona State's Stewart and Pim Van Mele, while Ross teamed up with David Loewenthal to defeat ASU's Ryan Eveloff and Ryan McBride 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Ross took out Eveloff 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 6 singles and Brendon beat McBride 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Loewenthal and David Bere took their singles opponents to three sets before falling.

Wake Forest falls to 6-4 with the loss and Arizona State improves to 5-6 with the win. The Demon Deacons return to action next Wednesday, March 19, when they return home to host No. 63 Furman at 3:00 p.m. in Leighton Stadium.
