WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The 43rd ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team handed No. 68 William & Mary a 5-2 loss Saturday morning at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by sweeping doubles action with wins on all three courts and then took four of six singles matches to defeat the Tribe.

Trent Brendon and Mike Murray won singles matches in straight sets as Murray beat Joe Brooks 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 4 match and Brendon took out Zach Malmgren 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 5 match. David Bere and David Loewenthal both earned singles victories as Loewenthal battled past Geoff Russell 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the No. 1 match and Bere fought off Jeff Kader 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in the No. 3 match.

Wake Forest evens its record to 1-1 with the win and William & Mary falls to 7-3 with the loss. The Demon Deacons travel to Norfolk, VA tomorrow to play Old Dominion at 1:00 p.m.
