Feb. 4, 2006

Williamsburg, Va. - The 13th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team rolled past 65th-ranked William & Mary on Saturday morning, 6-1, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va. The Demon Deacons improved their record to 4-0 and dropped the Tribe to 3-3.

The Deacons swept the three doubles matches. Andrew Hamar and Todd Paul defeated the Tribe's number one team of Billy Mulligan and Colin O'Brien, 8-5. Hamar and Paul stayed undefeated this spring as did Mariusz Adamski and Brett Ross. They knocked off Dominic Pagon and Stephen Ward, 8-3. In four dual matches this spring, Wake Forest is a combined 11-1 in doubles action.

In singles play, 11th-ranked Todd Paul crushed 57th-ranked Stephen Ward, 6-2, 6-2, at number one singles. Cory Parr won in straight sets at number five and moments later, Brett Ross clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the number three position.

Adamski easily won his match at number four. Joe Bates, at number six, outlasted Marwan Ramadan, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. The only blemish on Wake Forest's record was at number two singles where 35th-ranked Andrew Hamar was upset by Alex Cojanu, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 in a super tie-breaker.
