Curfman's National Team Goal vs. Poland Nominated for US Soccer Award

CHICAGO -- Steven Curfman's 40-yard blast against Poland on June 4 has been nominated for the Best U.S. Goal - Youth National Team award.

This award goes to the best goal scored by a U.S. Youth National Team player in an international match played this year. Watch the goal, then vote for Wake Forest's Steven Curfman by clicking HERE.

Curfman's goal was the first in a 5-0 victory over Poland.

The online voting continues through December 10.

The other nominees for "Goal of the Year" on the youth level are Lindsay Huie of the U.S. U-21 Women's Team, David Testo of the U.S. U-23 National Team and three goals by Curfman's teammate on the U-17 National Team, Freddy Adu, who signed a contract with MLS this week.

Curfman was an ACC All-Freshman selection this year for the Demon Deacons. He has played in all 19 games for Wake Forest, with three goals and six assists. Curfman's 12 points make him the team's fourth-leading scorer.

The Demon Deacons (15-4) are NCAA Tournament's #3 seed. Wake Forest gets a first round bye and will host the Seton Hall-Virginia winner at Spry Stadium next Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m.
