WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest is the top seed for the upcoming 2004 ACC Men's Soccer Tournament and will face eighth-seeded Virginia Tech on Wednesday afternoon at Noon in the first of four quarterfinals at SAS Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C. The seeds and pairings for the tournament were announced this morning by the ACC. It is the second time in the past three seasons that the Demon Deacons enter the tournament as the #1 seed.

Wake Forest (12-4-1) captured the regular season meeting with the Hokies, 2-0, back on Oct. 26. The Demon Deacons used a pair of second-half goals from sophomore Wells Thompson and senior Scott Sealy, while redshirt freshman Brian Edwards recorded his then third straight shutout.

The winner of the Wake Forest/Virginia Tech game will face the winner of the #4 Virginia/#5 Duke on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The championships game will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
