Wake Forest Chases History at UNC Greensboro on Saturday

Nov. 7, 2003

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The third-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team plays its final regular season game on Saturday night at UNC Greensboro at 7 pm. With a victory, the Demon Deacons would tie a school record for consecutive wins at ten.

Wake Forest (13-3) will have to do it without injured senior All-American goalkeeper William Hesmer. He suffered season-ending injuries during a victory over Davidson on Tuesday.

UNC Greensboro (8-6-2) already has one win over an ACC squad at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Less than two weeks ago, the Spartans knocked off Virginia 1-0.

Wake Forest has won the last four meetings with UNCG. However, each of the last two matches in the Gate City have been narrow 1-0 Deacon victories and the Spartans still lead the all-time series 6-5-2.

The Demon Deacons have already locked up the two-seed in next week's ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. Wake Forest will play seventh-seeded Duke on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the SAS Soccer Complex.
