Wake Forest to Host U.S. Under-17 National Team at Spry Stadium on Friday night

    The United States Under-17 men's National Team will visit the Winston-Salem area to play three exhibition games this week, including one date against Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday April 23 at Spry Stadium.

    The U-17 National Team roster is composed of the best young talent in the country. The U.S. team will play UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest and the 86 Greensboro Soccer Club Green Team on their four day swing through the Piedmont Triad April 21-24.

    The team will start their tour off with a game against UNC Greensboro at the UNCG Soccer Stadium on Thursday, April 22 at 7 pm. On Friday, April 23, the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest will host the U-17 National Team for a 7 pm kickoff. The tour will wrap up with the U-17 National Team playing the U-17 Greensboro Soccer Club Green Team at McPherson Stadium at Bryan Park on Saturday, April 24, at 6 pm.
     

     

    The U-17 National Team is coached by John Ellinger and assisted by former Deacon assistant John Hackworth, Keith Fulk and goalkeeper trainer Peter Mellor. Wake Forest rising sophomore Steven Curfman starred on the U-17 team prior to joining the Demon Deacons.

    Wake Forest is in the midst of its most successful three-year period in program history. The Demon Deacons have reached the NCAA Tournament three straight years and have been ranked in the top 25 for 36 consecutive weeks. Wake Forest has won 15 games and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in attendance each of the last two years.

    The price of the tickets at all three venues will be $5. Youth soccer players who wear their soccer jerseys can purchase a ticket for $3.
