Men's Soccer Beats Virginia Tech, Draws Carolina In ACC Spring Tournament

CARY, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team went 1-0-1 in a pair of 60-minute matches last weekend at the ACC Spring Challenge.

The Demon Deacons opened the tournament with a 2-0 shutout of Virginia Tech, before tying North Carolina, 0-0.

In the victory over the Hokies, Wake Forest started seven freshman and four more rookies so playing time. The Deacs scored a pair of second-half goals -- one from freshman Marcus Tracy and another from junior Ryan Solle. Junior Wells Thompson was credited with the assist on Tracy's goal.

Wake Forest was the only team of those that participated (Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Duke) to go unbeaten.

The Deacs will host Elon on Wednesday, Apr. 5 at Spry Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Wake Forest will close out the spring season this weekend with a pair of matches on Saturday, April 8 at Spry. The Demon Deacons will play Old Dominion at 2 p.m. and High Point at 4:30 p.m.
