Wake Forest Men's Soccer Defeats Radford, 5-2

No. 7 Demon Deacons stay undefeated in '99 with win over Highlanders.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--The seventh-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a 5-2 victory over the Radford Highlanders here at Spry Stadium Tuesday night.

Radford jumped on top quickly with a goal just 47 seconds into the game by Michael Von Essen. Wake Forest answered to tie the score three minutes later on a goal by Chris Lonteen off an assist by Jamal Seale. Chad Evans put the Deacons on top at the 20:00 mark with a goal off an assist from Lonteen. Von Essen tied the game for Radford with his second goal of the night at 29:12 in the game. The score remained tied at 2-2 going into halftime.

In the second half, the Deacons took control of the game scoring three goals and shutting down the Highlanders. Viktor Litovka scored at the 56:34 mark and Evans scored his second goal of the night at the 78:09 mark in the game. The last goal of the game was scored on an own-goal by Radford.

Evans led the Deacons with two goals, while Lonteen and Litovka added one apiece. Wake Forest improves to 7-0-3 with the win, while Radford drops to 2-7-2 with the loss. The Deacons return to action when they host the North Carolina State Wolfpack Saturday, Oct. 9. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
