Lonteen Helps No. 24 Men's Soccer Past Liberty, 2-1

Sophomore midfielder scores both goals in Deacon victory.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--Chris Lonteen provided the Wake Forest men's soccer team with all the offense it would need as the Deacons, ranked 24th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, defeated the Liberty Flames 2-1 at Spry Stadium Wednesday night.

Liberty jumped on top early when Jason Streets put the Flames ahead with a goal at the 10:48 mark. The goal came off a corner kick from Derek Avilez.

Wake Forest answered 22:42 into the game when Lonteen scored the first of his two goals. Lonteen's second goal came at the 25:18 mark off a free kick from Jamal Seale.

With the win, Wake Forest improves to 3-0, while Liberty drops to 1-1. The Deacons return to action Saturday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Gametime is set for 7 p.m.
