An All-ACC candidate -- A tremendous athlete who returns to the Deacon midfield -- had an outstanding sophomore campaign as the team's leading scorer in 1999 -- had freshman season cut short by an injury -- a strong ball-server and set-up man -- a threat on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

1999: Led the team in points with 20 (seven goals, six assists) -- started in 20 of the team's 21 contests -- named as the Soccer America player of the week (Oct. 18) -- displayed tremendous efficiency with his scoring chances, scoring seven goals on just 27 shots -- scored two goals against Liberty, including the game-winner -- tallied one goal and one assist in the NCAA tournament vs. Virginia Commonwealth -- registered a goal in the ACC quarterfinals vs. Virginia -- enjoyed a three-game stretch where he scored six points including two goals vs. Liberty and an assist against both South Carolina and Davidson.

1998: Started eight of the Deacs' first 10 games as a freshman -- played primarily on the midfield flank -- got off to a strong start, recording four goals and an assist in those first 10 games -- notched his first career point in just his second collegiate match, assisting on a goal vs. San Francisco -- turned in an outstanding effort vs. No. 4 Virginia, tallying both goals in a 2-2 tie -- scored the game-winning goal in the Deacs' 2-1 upset of No. 1 Washington -- also scored a goal vs. Davidson -- saw his season end prematurely when he suffered a broken fibula vs. UNC Asheville on Oct. 6th.

Before WFU: A standout midfielder at William Fremd who was recruited by several top soccer schools -- named one of the top five freshmen in the state of Illinois by the Chicago Tribune in 1995 and one of the top 10 sophomores in 1996 -- team captain in 1997 and 1998 -- earned first-team all-state, all-conference honors in 1997 -- the MSL Conference Player of the Year in 1997 -- as a senior, helped William Fremd to the 1998 Illinois state title, earning all-tournament honors -- earned IHSCA all-sectional and all-area honors in 1998 -- named all-state in 1998 by the High School Coaches' Association, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times -- earned all-area honors from the Daily Herald and Countryside Publications -- a member of the Illinois ODP state select team in 1995 and the Midwest Regional ODP team in 1996 and 1997 -- played in the adidas ESP all-star game at Giants Stadium, his most memorable athletic moment.

Personal: Has not yet declared a major -- was on the honor roll all eight semesters of high school -- a National Honor Society member -- earned Mid-Suburban All-Academic honors from 1995-98 and IHSA All-Academic honors in 1998 -- born 1/20/80 -- the son of Gilles and Mary Ann Lonteen of Rolling Meadows, Ill.
