1998: Turned in another solid season between the pipes, starting all 19 games...his abilities and performance were not fully reflected in his stats, however...recorded a 1.31 GAA and a .676 save percentage, both of which ranked fourth among ACC netminders...recorded three solo shutouts (vs. Virginia Tech, St. Bonaventure, and NC State) and shared another...faced significantly fewer shots, as the Deacon defense allowed less than 10 per game (8.9)...made a season-high six saves in the 5-0 shutout of St. Bonaventure...came up big with five saves in the 2-2 overtime tie with No. 4 Virginia...earned All-Tournament honors at the Nike-WFU Classic for the second straight year.

1997: Firmly established himself as one of the top netminders in the ACC and the region, starting all 20 games and playing all but 17 minutes of the season...posted seven solo shutouts, including the first three games of the year, and shared one other...those seven blankings ranked tops in the ACC...made 99 saves on the year for a .805 save percentage (second-best in the ACC) and a 1.16 GAA (fourth-best)...ranked third in the region in GAA and seventh in saves...consistently played well in big games...made a career-high nine saves in losses to No. 9 Washington and to No. 9 Virginia in the ACC Semifinals ...earned All-Tournament honors in the Nike-WFU Classic.

1996: Saw action in three games, earning his first start and victory against Wofford...didn't allow a goal in 162 minutes, contributing to WFU's 0.98 team GAA...shared a 7-0 shutout against Wofford and a 2-0 shutout against Belmont Abbey...also appeared in WFU's 2-1 victory over Appalachian State.

Before WFU: A 1996 Parade All-American...named to the Puma Cup All-Star team in '96...an ODP Under-18 national pool participant in '95 and '96...Region III team member from 1994-96, touring England in '95 and France in '96...all-state selection in '95 and '96 and All-Southwest region in '96...a three-time all-district and two-time all-region selection...high school team captain and MVP ('95 and '96)...as a member of the Capital Soccer Club, was the team captain in '95 and '96...Capital won fall state titles in '93, '95 and '96.

Personal: A Dean's List student at WFU...majoring in philosophy...a National Honor Society and National English Merit selection...an academic all-state honoree...four-year member of the honor roll in high school...earned Rotary and Hugg Trust Scholarships...born 6/15/78...the son of Janice Giddings of Georgetown and John Conner of Nacogdoches, Texas.
