A proven goal scorer -- is productive for his minutes -- has been hampered
by nagging injuries throughout his career -- will compete for increased
playing time on the Deacon front line.
1999: Was the team's third leading scorer (16 points) despite starting only
one game -- registered six goals, tying him as the third leading goal scorer
on the team -- tallied four assists on the season -- unleashed 24 shots, the
fifth most on the team -- scored the game-tying goal against Richmond --
scored two goals in the season opener against Coastal Carolina -- enjoyed a
hot streak of four goals in five games against South Carolina, Davidson,
Richmond and Vanderbilt -- made the Dean's List in the 2000 spring term.
1998: Did not see action in the first nine games of the season, then saw
limited time in the last 10 matches -- got the starting call in just one
game, the Deacs' ACC Tournament quarterfinal match vs. Duke -- scored two
goals on just three shots over that last half of the season -- notched goals
vs. NC State and Charleston Southern -- tallied two assists on the year, vs.
UNC Asheville and North Carolina -- was invited to participate in the U.S.
Olympic Festival in August of '99.
1997: Played in 19 games, starting three -- made the most of his playing
time, recording six goals and four assists to finish as the team's
third-leading scorer -- had an impressive collegiate debut, scoring the
game-winner in the Deacs' season-opening upset of No. 14 UNC Charlotte --
named ACC Player of the Week for that performance -- also scored
game-winners in crucial ACC matches vs. No. 9 NC State and No. 13 Clemson
(in OT) -- earned ACC Player of the Week and Soccer America Team of the Week
kudos after the NC State win -- most productive outing came in a 9-0 rout of
App State, where he netted two goals and an assist.
Before WFU: The 1996 Ohio State Player of the Year -- holds his high school
records for career goals (48) and points (109) -- a first-team all-state
selection in '96 -- the 1996-97 Walsh Jesuit Male Athlete of the Year -- '96
team MVP and three-time offensive MVP -- three-time first-team
All-Summit/Medina/ Portage -- first-team All-Akron in '95 and '96 -- Akron
Touchdown Club honoree in '95 and '96 -- first-team All-Cleveland Plain
Dealer -- the Summit/Medina/Portage Player of the Year in '96 -- played six
years with the Ohio Premier club program -- member of the Ohio North and
Region II ODP teams from 1993-97, making the national pool in '96.
Personal: A Dean's List student at WFU -- majoring in business and
accountancy -- a National Honor Society student-- earned the 1997 Award of
Merit and President's Award -- named his school's top English scholar and
the Outstanding Senior -- earned a 4.0 high school GPA -- Walsh Jesuit's 1997
Homecoming King -- born 3/16/79 -- the son of John and Laquette Barbee of
Hinckley, Ohio.
