Deacon Golfers Close Out Fall Season This Weekend

Wake Forest will join five other ACC teams, six SEC teams and golf teams from six other conferences Nov. 5-7 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Golf Tournament in Rocky Face, GA.

The 18-team field will play 54 holes on the par 72, 6,906-yard course, The Farm. Seven of the nation's 10 highest-ranked teams, including No. 1 Georgia Tech, will play in the tournament. Also in the field are ranked teams No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 New Mexico, No. 5 Auburn, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 TCU and No. 9 Texas, as well as No. 14 Augusta State, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 17 Wake Forest, No. 20 Duke and No. 23 Clemson.

The teams will begin the 54-hole event Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., with the second round scheduled for Saturday and the final 18 holes Sunday. Florida is the defending champion.

The Demon Deacons, who have finished in the top 10 in all three previous tournaments this fall, will be playing in their final event of the semester.

Freshman Webb Simpson, who finished third in his first college event, leads the Deacons with a 71.00 stroke average. Junior Kyle Reifers, an All-ACC selection last spring, owns a 71.66 stroke average.
