Braselton, Ga. - Freshman Webb Simpson of the Wake Forest men's golf team was named a Rolex Junior All-American by the American Junior Golf Association on Tuesday. Laura Crawford of the women's team was named an honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American. Both join an esteemed collection of current and former top-level junior golfers from around the world.

Simpson, a four-time first-team Rolex Junior All-American, is the current recipient of the Arnold Palmer Scholarship at Wake Forest. The 19-year-old Raleigh, N.C. native's 2004 campaign includes a tie for second place at the Thunderbird International Junior, a second place finish at the Scott Robertson Memorial Tournament and a tied for third finish at the MCI Junior Heritage. Over the course of his career, Simpson has tallied 11 top-10 finishes in individual AJGA stroke play events, including the title at the 2001 Rolex Tournament of Champions.

As a Deacon, Simpson led the men's team to a fifth place finish at their first and only tournament of the fall. Simpson shot five under at the Bank of Tennessee Championship, good for a tie for third place in his collegiate debut.

Crawford, a first-time honoree on the Rolex Junior All-America team, claimed her first national victory at the Golf Pride Junior Classic. The recipient of the Beth Daniel Player-of-the-Year award - the highest honor for a female given by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association - Crawford was also ranked No.1 by the Heritage Classic Rankings. She is the only freshman in the Deacon fall lineup for 2004.

Introduced by the AJGA in 1978, the Rolex Junior All-America Teams recognize those players who have established themselves as the world's premier junior golfers. This year's Rolex Junior All-Americans distinguished themselves through their outstanding play in 74 national events, 53 of which were conducted by the AJGA. The teams are comprised of 145 junior golfers, ages 13-19, from 31 states and six foreign countries. These standouts will be recognized Nov. 21, during the Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet held at Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga.
