Kyle Reifers Writing A Diary This Week From The NCAA Championships

May 28, 2006

Kyle Reifers and the Wake Forest men's golf team are in Sunriver, Ore., where they will play in the NCAA Championship Wednesday-Saturday. The Demon Deacons are one 30 teams to qualify for the Championship through regional play. Reifers' collegiate career - one of the most successful and consistent four-year careers in recent Deacon history - comes to a close this week. He would like nothing better than to end it with Wake's fourth NCAA title.

Reifers is doing a diary this week for WakeForestSports.com.

Top of the day to ya.

My name is Kyle Reifers and I am a senior (graduate) golfer at Wake Forest. We are out here in beautiful Sunriver, Oregon. It's beautiful, but really not the most convenient place to visit.

My day began in Columbus, Ohio when I left my house at 7 a.m. I then flew to Chicago where I met the rest of the team. We then boarded another plane and flew to Portland. Once we arrived in Portland, we picked up our bags and took a van to the other side of the airport where we hopped on a private jet and flew into Sunriver.

Bottom line...A LONG DAY (11 hours door to door). Our rooms are very nice, especially since I am an old man and have my own room. I got back to my room and changed and peeled off to the gym in our hot Nissan Sentra.

After a nice workout I came back to the room, freshened up, and went down to join the team to watch basketball and eat pizza. Finally, I want to say congratulations to former Deacon Jay Haas on his win today at the Senior PGA Championship!!
