WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -
Wake Forest senior Bill Haas has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2004 Ben Hogan Award, as announced The Friends of Golf (FOG) and Colonial Country Club, in cooperation with Bank of America and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Ben Hogan is presented annually to the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III or NAIA golfer, taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during the last 12 months.
Haas is a semifinalist for this award for the third straight season. He was one of 10 semi-finalists in 2002 and among the top five finalists for the award last year. Haas is currently the top-ranked collegiate golfer in the country and has won four tournaments this season, bringing his career total to nine titles. His current season stroke average of 68.94 is on pace to set a new NCAA single-season record.
The Hogan Award selection committee will name five finalists on April 27. The winner of The Hogan Award will be announced on May 6 and the presentation banquet will be held at Colonial Country Club on May 17, the Monday prior to the Bank of America Colonial.
