WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Demon Deacon golfing greats, including members of the 1986 NCAA Championship team, will be on hand Monday at Bermuda Run Country Club for the Wake Forest Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The annual event provides a major portion of the funding for the Demon Deacon men・s and women・s golf programs.

Ten professional golfers and 40 amateurs will participate in the captain・s choice event. Professionals include former Wake Forest NCAA individual champions Curtis Strange (1974) and Jay Haas (1975). Haas is the brother of current Wake Forest head men・s golf coach Jerry Haas, and his son, Bill, is a sophomore on this year・s Deacon squad. Also participating are Billy Andrade and Len Mattiace, both members of Wake Forest・s 1986 national championship team. Former Deacon Scott Hoch, the 2001 Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic champion, will participate in the Pro-Am festivities in addition to former Deacon All-Americas and current Senior Tour members Lanny Wadkins and Joe Inman. Other Wake graduates who will compete on Monday include Leonard Thompson, currently playing on the Senior Tour and Robert Wrenn, a former PGA Tour player who is currently a golf analyst for CNBC.

In addition to Andrade and Mattiace, other members of the 1986 NCAA championship squad who will be recognized at a reception on Sunday evening include Phil Bundy, Jeff Carine, Barry Fabyan, Tim Shoaf and Tim Straub.

The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. on Monday with the awards presentation/reception slated for 3:00 p.m. at the Bermuda Run clubhouse.
