Deacon Men's Golf Competes At Augusta State Invite

April 2, 2004

AUGUSTA, Ga. - It's that time of year when thoughts of golf turn to Augusta. The Wake Forest men's golf team gets a head start this weekend, as it competes in the Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hill Golf Club.

The two-day, 54-hole event features 18 teams, 10 of which are ranked among the top 25 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Wake Forest is currently ranked 21st.

Competing for the Deacs this weekend are seniors Bill Haas and Buck Williams, sophomore Kyle Reifers and freshmen Sean Moore and Chad Wilcox. Williams is making his first appearance since 2002 after redshirting the 2002-03 campaign.

Teams will play two rounds on Saturday, April 3, with the final 18 on Sunday. In the opening round, the Deacs are paired with host Augusta State and UCLA and will tee off beginning at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
