Wake Slips To Eighth After Second Round Of Carpet Capital Classic

DALTON, Ga.-- The Wake Forest men's golf team slipped five spots to eighth place after the second round of the Carpet Capital Classic golf tournament, played on the par-72, 6906-yard course at The Farm Golf Club.

The Demon Deacons carded a second-round team score of 300, or 12-over par, and stand at 10-over for the tournament. One of only three teams in the 15-team field not ranked in the Mastercard Top 25, Wake Forest is 19 shots behind team leader Georgia Tech.

Sophomore JAY MORGAN, who shot a career-low 69 in the first round, carded a 75 in round two and dropped to 16th place in the individual standings. at even-par He is eight shots behind the individual leader, Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder (-8). Freshman BRENT WANNER shot a 75 today and is tied for 30th place at 4-over, while redshirt freshman CORTLAND LOWE carded a 76 and is tied for 36th at 5-over. Sophomore BART DeLUCA tallied a 74 and is 44th (-6), while freshman BUCK WILLIAMS shot an 80 and stands in 48th place (+7).

Final round action continues on Sunday.
