BADIN LAKE, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's golf team carded a second round team score of 290, or 2-over par, to remain in fourth place after 36 holes of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. The tournament is being contested on the 7,102-yard, par-72 course at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point.

The Demon Deacons currently stand at 8-over for the tournament, 10 strokes behind team leader NC State (-2). Georgia Tech (-1) and Clemson (+2) remain in second and third place, while North Carolina (+8) moved up from fifth place into a tie for fourth with the Deacs. Duke stands sixth (+13), followed by Maryland (+21), Virginia (+22) and Florida State (+32).

Sophomore Jay Morgan fired a 69 in the second round to surge into a four-way tie for second place in the individual standings. At 3-under through 36 holes, Morgan is just two strokes back of the individual leader, Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder (-5), and thus in reach of medalist honors heading into the final round.

Freshman Brent Wanner shot a 73 today and is tied for 16th place at 3-over, while classmates Buck Williams and Chad Wilfong are both tied for 29th place at 6-over. Williams carded a 71 in the second round while Wilfong recorded a 77. Rookie Chris Yoder rounds out the Deacon five in a tie for 32nd place at 8-over after carding a 77.

Final round action continues on Sunday at 8:30 am. Admission to the tournament is free.
