The Wake Forest men's golf team is currently in second place after two rounds of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational,
taking place at the par 72 Forest Heights Country Club.
Fifteen teams - including nine of the top 21 teams in the nation in the latest rankings - are participating in the two-day, 54-hole tournament which is
being hosted by Georgia Southern. Wake Forest currently ranks third in the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) poll.
The Demon Deacons trail field leader Augusta State by four strokes after turning in rounds of even-par 288 and three-under 285 for a total of 573
on Saturday. ASU finished the day with a seven-under 569 (284-285). WFU is six strokes ahead of ACC rivals Clemson and Duke, who are
tied for third place with a three-over 579.
Deacon sophomore Bill Haas (Greer, S.C.) is currently in a three-way tie for second place with a four-under 140 after 36 holes. Haas turned in
rounds of 69 and 71 on Saturday and is two strokes ahead of his brother, Jay, Jr., a junior at Augusta State.
Junior Chris Yoder (Ashland, Ohio) is currently tied for fifth place with a two-under 142 (70-72). Junior Brent Wanner (Chatham, Mass.) is also
among the top 20 on the leaderboard, currently in 18th with a one-over 145. Wanner improved five strokes from the first to second round, carding
a 75 and 70.
Senior Jay Morgan (Choctaw, Okla.) is in 34th place with a three-over 147 (75-72), while junior Chad Wilfong (Thomasville, N.C.) is one stroke
behind, currently in 39th with a 148 after turning in a pair of 74s.
The final round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational takes place Sunday, with teams teeing off beginning at 8:00 a.m.
