AIKEN, S.C. -- Freshman Brent Wanner stands atop the individual leaderboard of the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championship after shooting a 69 and a career-low 68 in the first two rounds of play. The tournament is being contested on the 6,380-yard, par-71 course at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.

As a team, the Demon Deacons stand in a tie for seventh place in the 15-team field after 36 holes. After recording a team score of 294 in the first round, the Deacs posted a 285 in round two and are currently 11-over for the event. That puts Wake 16 strokes back of team leader Augusta State, who fired rounds of 283 and 280 on the first day.

At 5-under, Wanner is currently tied for the individual lead with Augusta State's Oliver Wilson and is one stroke ahead of Virginia's Mike Mitchell. A group of three other players stand two strokes off the lead at 3-under.

Freshman Buck Williams and redshirt freshman Cortland Lowe are currently tied with three other players for 38th place at 6-over par. Williams rebounded from a first-round score of 78 to post a 1-under 70 in round two, while Lowe carded 75-73 over the first 36 holes. Sophomore Jay Morgan is just a stroke behind those two, standing in a six-way tie for 43rd place at 7-over after shooting 75-74. Freshman Chad Wilfong rounds out the Deacon field in 49th place at 8-over, having shot 75-75 on day one.

The event concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday, March 21st.
