PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - The Wake Forest men's golf team is in twelfth place after the shooting 290 and 321 in the first two rounds of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of North Florida. The tournament is being contested on the 6,895 yard, par-72 course at Sawgrass Country Club.

The Deacs started off well firing a first round 290, but had problems with gusty winds in the second round shooting 31 shots over their first round pace. After 36 holes the Deacons are 37 shots back of leader, University of Florida. The top finishers for Wake Forest were Buck Williams who shot a 69/78-147 and is tied for 17th place, and Jay Morgan and Chris Yoder who both shot finished at a 54 hole score of 154, good enough for a tie for 44th place.

The final round of the Championships will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 22 with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
