TUCSON, Ariz. -
The Wake Forest golf team is in sixth place midway through the second round of the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate, held at Arizona National Golf Course. The course features a par 71, 6,793-yard layout.
A 90-minute frost delay before the opening round backed up the day's schedule, which was supposed to include 36 holes. The Deacs are sixth among the 15-team field, currently at nine-under par for the tournament. After a one-under 283 in the opening round, Wake Forest was shooting eight-under before play was suspended due to darkness. Host Arizona leads the field with a 30-under par, eight strokes ahead of its nearest competitor.
Deacon senior Bill Haas is currently in fourth place individually at eight-under par for the tournament. The nation's top-ranked golfer, Haas shot a three-under 68 on the opening 18 and was five under through 14 holes in the second round. He currently trails field leader Chris Nallen of Arizona, who is 13-under par for the tournament.
