Burdick Named ACC Football Specialist Of The Week

Wake placekicker accounted for 13 of 19 points against UNC.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest senior placekicker Matthew Burdick (Winston-Salem, NC/Mount Tabor) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Specialist of the Week as a result of his play in the football team's 19-3 win over North Carolina on Saturday.

Burdick accounted for 13 of WFU's 19 points, kicking a career-high four field goals (on four attempts) and adding one extra point. He kicked field goals of 47, 29, 35 and 38 yards to help the Demon Deacons to their first win over the Tar Heels since 1989.

The honor caps an impressive 10-day span for Burdick, who broke the Wake Forest career field goal record vs. Clemson on Oct. 30th and was named the university's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year on Oct. 31st.
