Robinson Earns ACC Football Honors

Oct. 25, 2004

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest redshirt freshman defensive end Matt Robinson was selected as the ACC Rookie of the Week in a vote by a panel of the league's media on Monday.

During Saturday's game against Florida State, Robinson intercepted a pass and returned it 19 yards for Wake Forest's first of two defensive touchdowns. Robinson posted a career-high seven tackles, including five solo stops. Two of those tackles were behind the line of scrimmage. He also recorded a pass break-up.

Robinson, a native of Cedartown, Ga., is the third Deacon to win ACC Rookie of the Week honors. Linebacker Jonathan Abbate has earned the honor twice and running back Micah Andrews also picked up the award earlier this year.
