The Groves Stadium Webcam Is Online!

June 8, 2006

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest Athletics is pleased to introduce a new webcam to WakeForestSports.com. This camera will allow alumni and fans the chance to monitor the renovations taking place at Groves Stadium.

The Groves Stadium Field Renovation project is underway. When completed, Groves Stadium will have a new FieldTurf surface and a new irrigation system for the field, Deacon Hill and the exterior of Bridger Field House.

The project is being completed in stages. Several of them will occur before the actual installation of the FieldTurf surface. First, the hydro-excavation process removed years of muddy build-up underneath the grandstands on both sides of the field. The mud caused excessive pressure on the walls located behind each team's bench area. Next, a pair of 84-inch storm drain pipes that carry Silas Creek underneath Groves Stadium will be replaced. Additional electrical and structural repairs will take place in various areas of the stadium, most notably the grandstands where some of the original concrete will be replaced.

The actual installation of FieldTurf will begin in early June with a target completion of early July.
