Spring Football Practice Begins Tuesday

March 14, 2005

The Wake Forest football team begins spring practice on Tuesday at its on-campus practice facility. The first practice is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

The Demon Deacons will have 15 days of practice, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday leading up to the Spring Game on Saturday, April 9 at Groves Stadium.

All mid-week practices will run two hours beginning at 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. The Saturday sessions at Groves Stadium will tentatively start at 10:00 a.m.

Head coach Jim Grobe begins his fifth year as head coach and has 80 student-athletes in camp. The only scholarship newcomer this spring is freshman offensive lineman Chris DeGeare from Glenn High School in nearby Kernersville.

The Deacons return 43 letterwinners from last year's 4-7 team that was tied or leading in the fourth quarter in nine of its 11 games in 2004. The Deacons bring back nine starters on offense and six on defense.

Wake Forest also gets a look at 19 players that redshirted last season, including 18 freshmen plus running back D'Angelo Bryant.

Listed below is the schedule for spring practices. Dates, times and location are subject to change. All practices are open to the public and times can be confirmed by calling the Wake Forest football office at (336) 758-5633.
