WINSTON-SALEM -- Wake Forest head football coach Jim Grobe completed his coaching staff by officially naming Brad Lambert as an assistant coach.

Lambert, who will coach the Deacon inside linebackers, comes to Wake Forest after coaching the previous five seasons at the University of Georgia. Lambert coached the defensive secondary last season and previously served in a variety of roles on the Bulldog staff as coach of linebackers, special teams and defensive ends.

Prior to his tenure at Georgia, Lambert coached five seasons at Marshall. In 1994, Lambert helped coach a defensive unit that led the conference and ranked 10th nationally in pass efficiency defense. Lambert began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1987-89.

Lambert is a 1987 Kansas State University graduate. He played four seasons for the Wildcats, earning academic All-Big Eight honors three times and was a second team All-Big Eight selection in 1984. Lambert, who turned 36 on Jan. 14, is a native of Hoxie, Kan.
