Twelve games highlight the 2002 Wake Forest football schedule, as released today by the Atlantic Coast
Conference office.
The Demon Deacons play four non-conference games this fall, beginning with a Thursday night trip to DeKalb, Ill. to face Northern Illinois on
August 29. The Groves Stadium home opener is Sept. 7 against East Carolina. Other non-conference games include a road trip to Purdue (Sept.
21) and a home date with Navy (Nov. 23).
The matchup with Purdue marks just the fourth meeting overall and first time since 1978 the two teams will meet on the gridiron.
Wake Forestˇ¦s ACC home schedule includes matchups with Virginia (Sept. 28), Duke (Oct. 12), North Carolina (Oct. 26) and Florida State
(Nov. 2). The Deacs close out the regular season with a nationally-televised game (espn2) at Maryland on Nov. 30.
The 2002 season will mark the second year under Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe. The Deacons went 6-5 last season, their second winning
campaign in three years.
