Two-year starter on the Demon Deacon offensive front and an All-ACC Academic Team selection last season … switched to guard last fall after previously working at tackle … made the adjustment quite well and now returns for his senior year stationed at that same spot, although experienced a slight adjustment in his role during this past spring as well … will likely play on the "short" side of the line of scrimmage this year opposite the tight end … wherever he lines up, the WFU coaching staff knows it will receive a tremendous effort from him … certainly one of the hardest working Deacons on and off the field … simply loves football and everything about competing against some of the best defensive players in America, which he finds on a weekly basis in the ACC … very attentive to coaching and the nuances of his position … constantly works to refine his technique as a lineman … has worked diligently in the weight-training area, too, to increase his strength and size … also has had to overcome physical troubles, including arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees during the spring of '96 … was redshirted in 1995, then steadily worked his way into the starting lineup in his first year of action … now ranks as one of the offensive unit's most experienced players with 28 career starts … will definitely add to that figure this fall while hopefully adding to the Deacon victory total in his final season.

1998: Durable doesn't describe his performance during the season … played every offensive snap (786 plays) during the 11-game campaign from Colorado Springs to Atlanta … worked alongside standout tackle Jeff Flowe, providing the Deacs with a solid twosome on that side of center … extended his streak of "complete games" to 20 in a row dating back to 1997.

1997: Started all 11 contests at the strong tackle position … proved to be an amazingly durable and consistent performer throughout the season … played every offensive snap in 10 games, with his only relief coming late in the year's second game at East Carolina … went on to take part in every play through the final nine dates.

1996: Saw first action in last offensive series at Georgia Tech (third game of season) … played briefly against both Virginia and North Carolina, too … started for the first time at Maryland in mid-October and never came out of the lineup the rest of the way … shared time with Taris Clark for a few games … went the distance, though, in final two outings versus Duke and NC State.

BACKGROUND: Standout performer at nearby North Forsyth High for three years as an offensive lineman under coach Drew Buie … helped the Vikings average nearly five yards per rush in 1995 as he gained all-conference and all-Northwest (Winston-Salem Journal ) honors … named honorable mention all-state by Associated Press … contributed on the defensive side of the line, too, and was named "player of the game" after North's upset of local rival Mount Tabor in '94 … also competed as a wrestler at North … won the regional championship as a junior in that sport, but could not participate as a senior due to an elbow injury … popular member of the student body in high school, being chosen as class president during his junior and senior years … also earned honor roll status in high school and continued to succeed academically by making the Dean's List and the ACC Honor Roll … received his undergraduate degree in communication this past May and is now enrolled in the WFU Master Teacher Fellows program … age 22 (born 5/30/77).
