An outstanding wide receiver who should be a major factor in the Demon Deacon offensive scheme in 1999 … made his debut in a Wake Forest uniform a productive one last fall, ranking third on the team in total receptions while moving into a starting spot the season's final month … proved to be both a reliable and exciting receiver, one capable of making the tough catch and the dramatic one as well … has excellent size for a wideout and can be a very physical player … demonstrated a much-improved blocking skill during offseason workouts to complement his already established receiving skills … originally attended Utah where he redshirted in 1995, then saw limited action in 10 of 11 games during the '96 season … caught just one pass (vs Rice) that fall … transferred to WFU prior to the 1997 season and missed one year in accordance with NCAA regulations … wasted little time in learning the offensive system, though, impressing the coaching staff with his attention to detail … possesses good speed (4.5 in the 40) and is also an elusive runner once he catches the ball downfield … an impressive athlete in other ways, too, ranking first on the '99 team in the vertical jump with a 40.5" effort … also ranks third on the club in the broad jump (10'5") … should certainly have plenty of opportunities to showcase those talents this season as a starting wide receiver.

1998: Played in all 11 games, though was slowed significantly early in the year by a hamstring injury sustained during preseason drills … did not catch a pass in either of first two outings, but had at least two receptions in all nine dates thereafter … made his first major impact in win at Clemson with a 48-yard touchdown catch of a Brian Kuklick pass (his second reception as a Deacon) … reached the endzone the following week on a nine-yard pass from Kuklick versus App State … a steady contributor throughout the middle portion of the schedule, then erupted for six catches for 89 yards at NC State … had moved into the starting lineup that day after Desmond Clark was sidelined with a knee injury … finished the year on a real "up" note with nine receptions for 121 yards at Georgia Tech … had catches of 20-plus yards in each of the last four games as well.

BACKGROUND: Excellent all-around athlete at Highland Springs High where he participated in four different sports as a high school student, though his primary focus was on football and baseball … earned all-district honors as a senior as both a wide receiver and as a punter for coach Randy Stokes … also served as team captain that season … lettered four years in baseball where he played centerfield … found time to be successful in the classroom, achieving Honor Roll recognition all four years in high school … both his parents are teachers and graduates of nearby North Carolina A&T … father (Marvin, Sr.) was a standout baseball player for the Aggies … had two older sisters graduate from NC State … earned Dean's List honors during his first year at WFU as a communication major … hopes to pursue a career in audio/video production … age 22 (born 5/23/77).
