Armed with great leg strength, Brennie returns after serving as the Deacons' starting punter the last two seasons … has the potential to be one of the best punters in the ACC … now a veteran, Brennie is striving for consistency … the third-leading returning punter in the league entering 2001 … an excellent all-around athlete, having played quarterback during his high school career … also a baseball player (outfielder), who has spent part of the last three seasons with coach George Greer's two-time ACC champion baseball squad … has seen action in 11 games on the diamond for the Deacs.

2000: Handled all Deacon punting duties … finished the year ranked fourth among ACC punters and 20th nationally with a 42.0 average per punt … averaged over 40 yards per punt in eight of 11 games in 2000 … booted 13 punts over 50 yards on the season … set a new career high by punting a 56-yarder twice, against UNC and Maryland … totaled six punts for 265 yards (44.2 avg.) against Florida State … booted a 50-yarder in that game … kicked five times for 320 yards at Maryland (46.0 avg.), including the 56-yarder … booted the ball four times for 163 yards (40.8 avg), including a 54-yarder against Vanderbilt … booted 10 punts for an average of 43.4 yards, including a 50-yarder at Clemson … had his best game of the season versus North Carolina, punting 11 times for 512 yards (46.5 avg) … kicked three inside the 20 and booted a career-high 56-yarder in that game … totaled 14 punts inside the 20 and had none blocked.

1999: Wake's starting punter for much of the season … took 53 of WFU's 60 punts during the regular season, averaging 36.6 yards per kick … ranked seventh among punters in the ACC … had a career-long punt of 51 yards against Rutgers … nagged by a back problem in the late season … replaced by backup punter James MacPherson in the Duke game and did not punt versus Georgia Tech.

Background: A second team all-state punter as both a junior and senior at Highland High … lettered three seasons under coach Carl Relyea … averaged 43 yards per boot as a junior, then improved that to an impressive 46.7 yards per punt in his senior campaign … also played quarterback and defensive back … gained all-conference recognition three years in a row on the diamond and helped his American Legion team to a state title in 1995 … also spent one year on the soccer team and two on the basketball squad … first became familiar with WFU while attending summer football camp there … majoring in history … born April 11, 1980 in Poughkeepsie, NY ... son of John and Mary Brennie.
