WILLIAMS WILL PLAY IN JULY 4-9 GLOBAL GAMES

Wake Forest freshman center Eric Williams is one of 15 high school all-stars who will represent the United States at the Global Games in Dallas July 4-9.

Williams, 6-9 (Wake Forest, NC), continues to enjoy a rewarding off-season. He participated in the McDonald's High School All-Star Game earlier this year.

The Global Games pits some of the world's top amateur basketball players, ages 22 and under. This year's event features teams from Mexico, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Germany, Ukraine and Africa. The tournament will be played July 4-7 at SMU's Moody Coliseum and July 9 at Reunion Arena.

Williams is joined on the team by three other ACC players, all from Georgia Tech -- Chris Bosh, Jarrett Jack and Theodis Tarver.

OVERTON TO HOLD BOOK SIGNING

Former Wake Forest football player Bill Overton (class of 1968) will hold a book signing Friday, June 28 at 10:30 am. The reception will be in the Lu Leake Foyer outside the Magnolia Room on the second floor of Reynolda Hall.

A former star on the Wake Forest football team, Bill is an actor, model and author. His first book, The Media: Shaping the Image of a People, was recently published. The "coffee table" book contains excerpts from Bill's personal collection of 19th century magazine images portraying people of various races and ethnic groups as well his collection of media images of modern day celebrities.

Proceeds from the books sold while Bill is on his North Carolina tour will go the Hurricane Relief Fund of the General Baptist Convention of North Carolina, which is headed by Bill's Wake Forest teammate, Dr. Archie Logan '71.
