Prosser Returning Home After Trip To Kuwait

May 29, 2007

Wake Forest head basketball coach Skip Prosser has won a lot of games over his career. Until last week, however, he had not won a game while wearing a desert camouflage uniform and boots.

Prosser returns home to Winston-Salem this week after joining a group of coaches at Operation Hardwood in Kuwait. In Kuwait, Prosser and his colleagues coached U.S. troops in a friendly but competitive week-long tournament.

In the Hoops With the Troops" tournament championship game on May 27 at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, Prosser's team, the Arifjan defenders, defeated Notre Dame's Mike Brey's LSA YAH team, 79-74.

Also on the trip were coaches Dennis Felton (Georgia), Reggie Minton (Dep. Executive Director of National Assoc. of Basketball Coaches), Ed Conroy (The Citadel), Jim Crews (West Point), Fran Fraschilla (ESPN), Mike Lonergan (Vermont) and Brey (Notre Dame).

This was the fourth year of Operation Hardwood.
