Trent Strickland, a 6-5, 190-pound shooting guard who played last season at Hargrave (VA) Military Academy, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Wake Forest next season, Deacon head coach Skip Prosser has announced today.

A native of East Flat Rock (NC), Strickland played three seasons at East Henderson High School before transferring to Hargrave last year. He averaged 23.3 points as a junior at East Henderson and he averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game last year at Hargrave. He had single-game highs of 24 points, 11 points and seven steals last season.

"We're excited to add Trent to our recruiting class," Prosser said. "Trent is an outstanding young man who can't wait to play for Wake Forest. We think he can really add to our team in terms of athleticism, his ability to run the floor and he is an especially good defensive player."

Hargrave, coached by Mike Preston, also produced Deacon senior forward Josh Howard.

Strickland is the fifth and final signee in this year's recruiting class. He joins Chris Ellis (6-9, Marietta, GA), Justin Gray (6-2, Charlotte, NC), Richard Joyce (6-5, Mt. Airy, NC) and Eric Williams (6-9, Wake Forest, NC).
