WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Sophomore forward Kevin Swinton announced today that he will transfer from Wake Forest to another school at the conclusion of the spring semester. Swinton, 6-7 and 224 pounds, said today that he has not decided on another school at this time.

"Wake Forest is a special place", Swinton said. "I am definitely going to miss the fans and the great basketball here, but I thought it would be most beneficial to me right now to continue my career at another school."

A Greensboro (N.C.) native and former player at Dudley High School, Swinton played two full seasons for the Demon Deacons. As a sophomore, Swinton averaged 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while playing 9.1 minutes per contest. He scored a career-high 16 points Jan. 13 in a home game against NC State.

Swinton's two-year career numbers include 58 games played, 13 games started, 162 points and 176 rebounds. He had 17 blocked shots, 15 steals and shot an even 50.0 percent from the field.

"We wish Kevin nothing but the best," Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser said. "(Coach) Dave Price at Dudley High School prepared him very well. He's had outstanding games for us and I'm certain that he will do well at his next university."

Swinton is the third member of the Wake Forest team intending to transfer, joining freshman Casey Crawford and sophomore Shamaine Dukes.
