WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will make their 19th overall and fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, as it received the No. 4 seed in the East Rutherford, N.J. Region, as announced on Sunday evening.

The Deacs (19-9) will face Virginia Commonwealth University in a first-round matchup on Thursday, March 18 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. The Rams (23-7), earned an automatic berth in the 2004 bracket after capturing the Colonial Athletic Association championship.

The WFU-VCU winner will face either fifth-seeded Florida or 12th-seeded Manhattan in a second-round matchup on Saturday, March 20. St. Joseph's is the No. 1 seed in the East Rutherford Region.

Wake Forest is one of six ACC teams to earn a berth in the 2004 Tournament, and one of five league teams to be seeded fourth or higher.

Wake Forest will face VCU at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 18 (30 minutes following the conclusion of the Florida-Manhattan game). The Deacs' open practice on Wednesday, March 17 is set for 3:10 - 4:00 p.m. at the RBC Center. Should WFU advance to the second round, they will play at approximately 3:40 p.m. Saturday, March 20 versus the UF-Manhattan winner.
