March 7, 2005
Three Wake Forest players - sophomore Chris Paul and juniors Eric Williams and Justin Gray -- were named All-Atlantic Coast Conference, giving the Demon Deacons their most players on the all-league team in 40 years.
Paul was named first team All-ACC - the third consecutive year Wake Forest has placed a player on the first team. He was joined on the first team by Duke's J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams and North Carolina's Sean May and Raymond Felton. Paul was a third team selection last season as a freshman, making him a two-time all-conference performer.
Gray and Williams were named to the second team. The Deacon duo was joined on the second team by Miami's Guillermo Diaz, NC State's Julius Hodge and Georgia Tech's Jarrett Jack. Gray was a first team selection in 2004.
The All-ACC third team consists of North Carolina's Rashad McCants and Jawad Williams, Clemson's Sharrod Ford, Maryland's Nik Caner-Medley and Duke's Daniel Ewing.
The last time three Wake Forest players were named All-ACC in the same season came in 1964 when Frank Christie, Ronny Watts and Butch Hassell were all selected. The Deacons placed two on the All-ACC team several times including 2002, 2003 and 2004.
