Wake Forest senior forward Darius Songaila was named second team All-ACC and Deacon junior forward Josh Howard was named third team, the ACC office announced today.

Songaila, 6-9, was considered a strong candidate for first team honors after averaging 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He has 13 double-doubles and ranks among the ACC leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, steals and blocked shots. Songaila earns All-ACC honors for the second time. He was a third team selection in 2000.

Over his last six games, Songaila has averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 56.1 percent.

Howard, 6-6, was named third team All-ACC after averaging 14.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Howard, who missed part or all of four February games with a high ankle sprain, played 18 injury-filled minutes Feb. 13 against Clemson. Throw out that game and he has averaged 18.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocked shots over his last seven games.

Howard also earns All-ACC honors for the second time. He was a second team selection last season.

Deacon senior Craig Dawson was named honorable mention.

The All-ACC first team included Duke's Jason Williams, Mike Dunleavy and Carlos Boozer, Maryland's Lonny Baxter and NC State's Anthony Grundy.

Wake Forest, the No. 3 seed, opens ACC Tournament play Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. against Georgia Tech.
