Rookie guard appeared in 30 of 31 contests, providing solid defense, rebounding and play-making skills… court time increased as the season progressed... he averaged 20.5 minutes per game in the final 22 dates after playing just 8.6 mpg over the first eight games of the year… started at shooting guard for 14 straight ACC contests during the second half of the year before yielding the position to Joseph Amonett on "Senior Day"… cracked the starting lineup for the first time versus Virginia and netted a season-high 14 points and nine rebounds with four assists and only one turnover in 35 minutes... followed that performance with 11 points and four rebounds in 30 minutes in his next start at Clemson... impressive in his first four starts (Virginia, Clemson, Duke and Georgia Tech) as he totaled 36 points and 26 rebounds (9.0 ppg/6.5 rpg)... started and totaled nine points on 3-of-4 shooting and added four rebounds in Wake Forest's homecourt win over 4th-ranked Maryland… solid throughout his first eight starts, scoring 56 points (7.0 ppg)… four steals at Duke... opened the year with five points and two key steals against Illinois in 14 minutes in the Coaches vs Cancer Classic... both steals in that contest came in OT and led to four points as the Deacs rallied for a 75-73 win... finished the year with more assists (39) than turnovers (32)... committed just two turnovers in the final seven games of the year.

An all-state (2nd team) performer as a senior at Wallace-Rose Hill where he led his team to a perfect record (31-0) and a state 2A championship… averaged 19.5 ppg and 8.2 rpg as a senior under coach Steve Robinson, playing primarily the small forward position… exhibited his passing skill by giving out more than five assists per game as well… nearly recorded a triple-double in state title victory by scoring nine points, grabbing 13 rebounds and handing out a championship game record 13 assists… listed as an honorable mention All-American by USA Today… played point guard as a junior on a state runner-up club… a two-time all-conference selection and a starter all four years on the varsity squad at Wallace-Rose Hill... played in both the North Carolina-South Carolina all-star game and the East-West All-Star Game following his senior season… teammate in the latter affair with fellow-Deacon freshman Craig Dawson… scored 11 points and collected a game-high 10 rebounds in that event in Greensboro… also a former teammate of Dawson and current Deacon Antwan Scott on outstanding AAU squad (Carolina Warriors)… joined on that club by former North Carolina center Brendan Haywood and current Tar Heels Kris Lang and Julius Peppers... competed in track as a high school athlete and earned all-conference honors… member of the Spanish Club, SADD and the student council while gaining a spot on the "B" Honor Roll as a senior.

Personal
Signed with Wake Forest during the spring of 1998 after establishing himself as one of North Carolina's most talented and successful seniors… his sister, Nicole, plays basketball at UNC-Greensboro... chose Wake Forest because of its small campus and the short distance from home... will turn 22 the day after Wake Forest hosts Georgia Tech on Jan. 26 (1/27/80).
