Allan Dykstra Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest first baseman Allan Dykstra was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American squad by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper on Thursday. Dykstra already earned the 2006 ACC Rookie of the Year and was named All-ACC second team.

The San Diego, Calif., native led the Demon Deacons in slugging percentage (.670), on-base percentage (.479), RBI (56), home runs (15), walks (51), sacrifice flies (9) and tied for the team-high in games played (55) and started (55). He currently leads the ACC in OPS, slugging percentage, walks and is tied for the league lead in sacrifice flies. Dykstra also ranks second in the conference in home runs, fifth in on-base percentage, sixth in RBI, ninth in doubles (17) and ninth in total bases (124).

Nationally, Dykstra ranked sixth in walks, 39th in slugging percentage and 42nd in home runs. He finished among the top 10 single-season freshman records in walks (1st), doubles (t-1st), home runs (t-2nd), RBI (t-2nd), runs scored (t-5th), games started (7th), games played (9th) and hits (t-10th). In fact, his 51 walks were the third most in single-season school history.

Dykstra also tied a Wake Forest single-game school record with three home runs against Davidson on March 28. He recorded 15 multi-RBI games, including a pair of five RBI outings, and registered 15 multi-hit games.
