TODAY'S TOP STORIES

Wake Forest Enters ACC Tournament As #8 Seed...
The Demon Deacons, the four-time champions of the ACC Tournament, begin postseason play on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in a first round, single elimination game against Maryland (21-32, 4-20 ACC). Top-seeded Georgia Tech awaits the winner on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Wake Forest captured a series victory by taking two of three against Maryland in late-April at Hooks Stadium in a wild series that saw a combined 76 runs in three games.

Wake Forest is in the play-in game for the first time since 1996 and for only the second time since the conference introduced the current format in 1994. The Deacons upended the Terrapins in 1996 in a 3-2 victory.

Maryland, on the other hand, has been in the play-in game every year since 1994. The Terrapins are 3-6 in the history of the play-in game.

No team has ever won the ACC Tournament after participating in the play-in game, but in 2001, NC State reached the championship game.

In the 30-year history of the ACC Tournament, the Deacons are 6-4 all-time against the Terrapins. The teams haven't met since 1996.

Blue Climbs Stolen Base Chart...
With a pair of stolen bases in the first inning of Saturday's game with Florida State, Nick Blue swiped the 57th and 58th bases of his career to tie for third place in Wake Forest history.

Blue needs needs six more to tie Brian Shabosky for second place. Tommy Gregg is the all-time leader with 100 stolen bases.

Today's Number to Note is...
3 -- George Greer is one of only two active ACC head coaches (Mike Martin, FSU) with three ACC Championship rings.
