TODAY'S TOP STORIES

Wake Forest Rounds Out Regular Schedule With Florida State...
The Demon Deacons complete their regular season schedule with a three-game set against 22nd-ranked Florida State at Hooks Stadium, beginning Thursday. All three games are 1:30 start times.

Wake Forest has dropped all five contests since returning from final exams and now finally return to Hooks Stadium where the Deacons have posted a winning record of 13-7 this year.

The Deacons have been quite successful against the Seminoles in Winston-Salem in recent years. Wake Forest took two of three from Florida State at Hooks Stadium in both 2002 and 2000.

Last year, however, the Seminoles swept the Deacons in Tallahassee and prevented Kyle Sleeth from setting a new NCAA record for consecutive wins. Instead, he tied at the mark at 26 wins. (see page three)

Four Deacon Seniors To Be Honored on Saturday...
The FSU series marks the home finales for a quartet of Deacon seniors including Nick Blue, Steve LeFaivre, Doug Riepe and Brad Scioletti.

Blue came to Wake Forest before the 2000 season. LeFaivre and Riepe arrived together as freshmen in 2001. Scioletti transferred from West Point in 2002. Collectively, they were members of three NCAA Tournament teams and the 2001 ACC Championship team.

This weekend, these seniors will be a part of their 100th games at Hooks Stadium since 2001. The Deacons have posted a 76-22 record at home on their watch, a 77.5 winning percentage.

Today's Numbers to Note is...
990 -- George Greer is approaching 1,000 games at Wake Forest, having coached 990 games in his 17 years with the Deacons. He ranks fourth all-time in the ACC with 608 wins and is tied for sixth with 184 career wins against ACC teams.

Ingold: A Quick Study in the Classroom and on the Diamond...
Junior shortstop Ben Ingold was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III Second Team last week. Ingold carries a 3.46 GPA in political science and a .374 average at the plate.

The Durham native leads the team in batting average, hits, doubles, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, has swiped 11 bases in 12 tries and made just 11 errors in 232 chances.

Ingold has been Wake Forest's everyday shortstop since his freshman year. He has played in 154 career games, entering the FSU series, with 153 career starts. Ingold's next basehit will be the 200th of his career.

Now We Go...
With 58 steals in 67 attempts as a team, the Deacons are the most effecient base stealing team in the ACC with a success rate of 86.5 percent. By comparison, Florida State is second in the league in that category at 81.9 percent (68-for-83). NC State ranks last at 59.5 percent (28-for-47).

Wake Forest's 86.5 percent efficiency is the team's best mark in 18 years. No Deacon team has been as successful since 1986 when Wake Forest swiped 27 bags in just 31 attempts.

This note is brought to you by Deacon volunteer assistant coach Scott Daeley, who was an excellent base stealer in his own right. As the centerfielder on Wake Forest's 1998 and 1999 ACC Championship teams, Daeley stole 41 bases in 45 attempts, a 91.1 percent success rate.
