Fort Mill, SC - Seven Wake Forest Demon Deacons highlighted the All-ACC baseball teams, as selected by a vote of the league's nine head coaches. The teams were announced today at the 28th annual ACC Baseball Tournament on Saturday evening.
Senior Cory Sullivan was the only player in the conference to be selected at two positions. He was a first team pick as an outfielder. He made the second team as a starting pitcher.
Sullivan was joined on the first team by junior closer Dave Bush who ranks second in the NCAA in saves.
Five Demon Deacons made the second team, including senior catcher Jason Aquilante, who is playing his first season behind the dish, senior designated hitter Carlos Brackley, the team's leading home run hitter, freshman first baseman Jamie D'Antona, who leads the team in RBI, senior third baseman Corey Slavik, who has been spectacular in the field and of the most consistent hitters at the plate, and Sullivan, who was a perfect 4-0 in ACC games as a starting pitcher.
The ACC will reveal the conference's player of the year, rookie of the year and coach of the year on Monday.
The seven Wake Forest selections on the first and second teams were the most since 1956 when the Deacons placed five players on the first team and two on the second team.
Wake Forest has earned a place in Sunday's ACC Tournament championship game. The Demon Deacons will play Saturday's winner of the Florida State-Maryland game at 1:00 p.m. at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC.
