TODAY'S TOP STORIES

Deacons Travel to Durham For Weekend Series at Duke...
Wake Forest ventures down I-40 to take on the Duke Blue Devils in a three-game weekend set at Jack Coombs Field. Friday's game can be heard on 98.1 WBRF as Stan Cotten and Cory Provus call the action. The Deacons send Justin Keadle to the mound Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. start time.

Wake Forest leads the series 81-44 since 1954. In his 17 years at Wake Forest, George Greer owns a 32-12 record against the Blue Devils and the Deacons haven't lost a series to Duke since 1994.

Bright Spots...
During the last ten games, Nick Blue is hitting a team-best .407 (11-for-27) with four stolen bases. He also owns a seven-game hitting streak -- a personal season-high. Fellow seniors Doug Riepe and Steve LeFaivre have hit .360 and .314 respectively to led the Deacons.

Streak Notes...
Ten straight losses is the longest streak since a 10-game skid in 1987. Wake Forest hasn't lost 11 in a row since the 1984-85 seasons. The worst losing streak in school history came in the 1974-75 seasons when the Wake Forest lost 14 straight.

At 11-18, these Deacons are certainly in unfamilar territory. Last year's team didn't lose its 18th game until May 11, after the break for final exams. The 2002 team only lost 13 games all year and in 2001, Wake's 18th loss was a season-ending loss in the NCAA Tournament.

Today's Number to Note is... 8 - Wake Forest has won eight straight games on April 9 (since 1992) and holds an all-time record of 16-8 on this date.
